About :

Over the past years, Mohan has led 20+ healthcare projects — four of which had commercial implementation and he had also received government funding to develop a medical screening tool (pivoting toward a second grant opportunity). Mohan has built health and learning systems that prepare people for an uncertain future. As an aspiring – designer, entrepreneur & innovator, he combines research, foresight, and real-world implementation to create lasting impact. He had also achieved successful product integration and collaboration with Aravind Eye Care System, Sankara Nethralaya, and ZEISS—recognized leaders in global eye care.

He has worked on the ground in health systems, built learning ventures from scratch, and used futures thinking to map what’s next. His journey as an aspiring entrepreneur has always been about one thing: reimagining how people live, learn, and thrive.

From an early stage, he realized that traditional pathways rarely capture his curiosity and appetite for experimentation. His practice pairs practical product development with speculative scenario work. He develops prototypes that solve today’s needs (medical devices, learning tools) while prototyping possible futures, narrative scenarios, speculative interfaces, and design fictions to test how emerging technologies could reshape healthcare and education. Much of his speculative futures work is currently in development and he is actively seeking collaborators and research partners to refine and exhibit these concepts.

One more thing…

He is best understood when you meet him in person or if you have the world’s no.1 in demand skill i.e.,”Empathy”. When he’s not building products you can see him riding motorcycles in the mountain roads, alone at the beach, reading books for hours at the public library, taking long walks in the streets, observing and documenting cuteness in designs, children and nature. He doesn’t use social media including Linkedin, off TV since his grade 12, however he remains an avid fan of discovery, nat-geo, pro-wrestling and Sci-fi. He takes some time to communicate virtually.  He really loves to learn and apply new skills and he could possibly gain knowledge and inspiration from amazing people like you…yeah you!

Education and Background

“He completed his undergraduate degree at BITS Pilani – Elite School of Optometry, where he gained foundational knowledge in community patient care and medical technologies. During this time, he sought opportunities beyond the classroom to understand real-world applications…thanks to his principal respected Dr Krishna Kumar and to his professors respected Dr Anuradha, Dr Rashima and others. Then, he collaborated with top hospitals in India, contributing to healthcare product development and patient-centred projects, some of which were successfully commercialized. These experiences taught him the nuances of translating technical ideas into tangible solutions, understanding user needs, and navigating complex organizational landscapes.

His professional journey is complemented by a rigorous and continuous commitment to learning. He has earned/continue to earn course certifications from globally recognized institutions including University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania etc…covering healthcare innovation, Psychology, AI in education, design thinking, and futures foresight. These programs equipped him with tools to analyze complex problems, anticipate emerging trends, and design human-centered solutions. More importantly, they strengthened his mindset: approaching challenges with curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to continuously experiment. Itequipped him to approach complex problems with analytical rigor and creative solutions.”

“Further..to approach complex problems, he integrates design thinking, futures foresight, and human-centered experimentation. This methodological rigor complements his hands-on experience, enabling him to bridge the gap between theory and real-world impact.”

He has also co-founded a healthcare-focused NGO, working to enhance patient outcomes in primary eyecare and strengthen access to critical eyecare services. This experience deepened his understanding of entrepreneurship, stakeholder engagement, and the power of mission-driven innovation. He also ran education and career-oriented startup, exploring AI-driven learning and career coaching platforms. While some ventures were early-stage and sold, they provided invaluable lessons in experimentation, user-centric design, and strategic thinking. These experiences reflect his iterative approach: learning from each project, applying insights, and continuously striving for real-world impact.”

Words from Mohan Venkadesan:

My Childhood hero (who is invisible) says one should “Never Give Up”. I never gave up on my dreams. Innovation and curiosity drive me towards thrill-seeking action-packed adventures. The world for me is one Earth. Differences apart, I wish we should come together and solve today’s complex challenges to make this world a better place with lots of love, care, empathy and happiness.
